If you would like to connect the EKM Push gateway to your WiFi network you can us a WiFi Bridge. This connects to the ethernet port on the EKM Push gateway and gives it the ability to connect to your WiFi network. The steps below explain how to set up the Vonets WiFi bridge so it connects to you WiFi network. There are two configuration options: configuration via WiFi or configuration via Ethernet

Connect 12V DC power to the Vonets WiFi Bridge using the splitter provided and the 12V er supply that is included with your EKM Push gateway. The attached white plug is NOT for power. DO NOT connect the white plug to power.

The Vonets can be configured using your WiFi network, or Ethernet if you have and Ethernet network available.

For WiFi Configuration:

The following examples are on Mac. The process is similar on Windows

  1. Wait until VONETS shows up in the list of your computer's available WiFi networks, and select it.
  2. A login screen should pop up. Enter the password “12345678”

  3. Open a web browser, and in the address field, enter “192.168.254.254”

  4. The Vonets login page should load:

  5. Login with “admin” and “admin” and click “Login”

  6. Your preferred WiFi network should appear in a list of available WiFi networks.

  7. Select the desired SSID and click the “Next” button.

  8. Enter the password for the selected WiFi network. Be sure to UNCHECK the checkbox next to “The configuration parameters of WiFi repeater security is synchronized with source hotspot”. Then click the “Apply” button.
  9. When the “Reboot” button appears, click it.
  10. When the LEDs on the Vonets go off for a few seconds, it goes into reboot. After the reboot is complete, the blue LED should flash continuously at a fast rate.

The Vonets should now be ready to use. To check that the configuration is good, turn off WiFi on your computer, and plug the Vonets Ethernet cable into the computer’s Ethernet port. If the computer is set for Ethernet DHCP, the computer will configure automatically, and after a few seconds, you should be able to connect to the Internet and web surf or get email, for example.

For EthernetConfiguration:

  1. Turn off WiFi and unplug any network cables from your computer.
  2. Plug the Vonets Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on your computer.
  3. Wait about 30 seconds for the Vonets and your computer to establish a connection.
  4. Open a web browser, and in the address field, enter “192.168.254.254”
  5. The Vonets login page should load:

  6. Login with “admin” and “admin” and click “Login”

  7. Your preferred WiFi network should appear in a list of available WiFi networks.

  8. Select the desired SSID and click the “Next” button.

  9. Enter the password for the selected WiFi network. Be sure to UNCHECK the checkbox next to “The configuration parameters of WiFi repeater security is synchronized with source hotspot”. Then click the “Apply” button.
  10. When the “Reboot” button appears, click it.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

If the Vonets doesn't successfully provide an Internet connection, whether it's to a computer to which the Vonets is connected by Ethernet, or to the Push, through it's Ethernet port, try the following:

1. Restart the Vonets, by disconnecting, then re-connecting the power cable

2. Disconnect the Ethernet cable, wait 10 seconds, then re-connect the Ethernet cable. Wait another 10 seconds and try again.

3. Check the network settings as follows:

    For Windows:

    1. Go to the Start menu and type "cmd" in the search field, and hit the Enter/Return key

    2. In the command line type "ipconfig" and hit the Enter/Return key

    3. You should see "Windows IP Configuration" followed by other text and data. Look for "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection". The settings below that should be consistent with your local network. If they are not, something was incorrectly set in the Vonets. If the Default gateway is "192.168.254.254" then the Vonets is still in configuration mode and you should be able to start the configuration over from the beginning. If there is nothing in the Default gateway field, then the Vonets needs to be set to its default settings.

    For Mac OS:

Open System Preferences-->Network and check the settings for the Ethernet connection. It should be set to DHCP. The rest of the settings should be consistent with your local network. If they are not, something was incorrectly set in the Vonets. If the Router is "192.168.254.254" then the Vonets is still in configuration mode and you should be able to start the configuration over from the beginning. If there is nothing in the Router field, then the Vonets needs to be set to its default settings by resetting the Vonets.

To reset the Vonets to its default settings:

    1. Disconnect the Vonets Ethernet cable

    2. Press and hold the RESET button (next to the power jack) for 10 seconds

    3. Release the RESET button and wait until both the blue and the green LEDs go off for about a second.

    4. Allow the Vonets to fully restart. It should now be ready to configure using one of the procedures outlined in the documentation.
