Please do not buy a used EKM Push, EKM Omnimeter, or EKM ioStack if the owner you’re buying it from has not formally transferred ownership to you, which they can be do by either sending us a transfer of ownership permission email (from the email address that was used to purchase the product) or by sending you the EKM Push account key!!
EKM Metering will only grant access to EKM Push data if provided with the EKM Push account key (in text form). When someone buys an EKM Push with an Omnimeter or EKM ioStack they become the owner unless they tell us otherwise. We send the owner an EKM Push Account Key. Any other party will need to get the account key from the owner and then email it to us so that we know that your email address has been granted access to the data in the owner’s account.

I cannot get ahold of the owner, what should I do?
If you send us permission to share your email address with the owner and ask them to send you the key on your behalf, we can do that for you. Please send us the EKM Push MAC Address, EKM Omnimeter serial number, or ioStack serial number if you have not already. We use these to look up the owner in our system.

What happens if the owner never responds?
This is an unfortunate problem. We first and foremost protect the data of customers. We hope the owner will respond to you eventually, but our hands are tied if the owner has not given us permission to share their Push account data with 3rd parties that have physical access to their EKM Push hardware. We suggest you try to send the hardware back to who you bought it from and ask them for a refund.
As an owner, how can I avoid these issues?
Please be sure that you email us all email addresses that you would like to have access to the data from your EKM Push account. In the event that someone needs to access the data from your account but we cannot get ahold of you, we will then be able to contact the other email addresses that you have provided. Similarly, you could email us as tell us that anyone that contacts us from the same business email address as yours should be given access. An alternative is to email us permission that anyone with physical access to your EKM Push and meter hardware (verified via photos) should be granted access to your data (only use this option if your hardware is in a secure location). This is option is less secure than the default option of anyone with the key has access to the data.
