Meter icons in Encompass now use live Push readings and, when needed, historical data to check whether a meter is reporting and has shown activity within roughly the past 24 hours. If these checks cannot be completed, Encompass falls back to the once-a-day online status. Each meter type has the same three versions. They refresh about every 15 minutes.
Electric, water, and gas meters each have their own icon.

Full color — online, in use
Push is reading the meter, and it is using energy or counting pulses.
- Electric: the readings show total watts above zero or an increase in total energy used.
- Water, gas, and pulse: the pulse count changed between two readings.
A full icon means the meter is communicating and something is flowing or drawing power. It does not mean the meter is "healthy" in every other sense.

Partial color — online, idle
Push is reading the meter, but no activity is detected in the readings.
- Electric: the readings show zero total watts and no increase in total energy used.
- Water, gas, and pulse: the readings came back and the pulse count did not change.
This is normal for an empty unit, a breaker that is off, or a water or gas line with no flow. The meter is not offline.

Gray — not reading reliably
Encompass cannot confirm that the meter is reporting because the readings are missing, outdated, or unusable.
Gray means "we are not getting good reads," not "this meter was turned off in settings."
How Encompass checks for activity
Encompass checks the latest Push real-time readings first. When needed, it also checks historical summary data for activity within roughly the past 24 hours. This helps identify recent usage even when the latest live readings show no activity or cannot be used.
If you hover your cursor over an icon for a couple of seconds a tooltip will describe the state of the meter.
