Yes! We have Pulse-Output Gas Meters that have a pulse output that can be read remotely.  For each unit of gas that flows through the meter, it produces an electrical pulse that can be measured from a distance.  The total gas usage can always be read on the face of the meters as well - as standalone devices.

Our Omnimeter Pulse v.4 and Omnimeter HV v.5 electric meters have the ability to read basic, 2-wire pulse output from the gas meters. These electric meters can accept the input of up to 3 pulse output devices (such as our gas meters). The Omnimeters are powered by 110–480 Volts AC.  The water meters are unpowered and do not require a power source.  The water meters connect to the Omnimeters via a 2 wire connection (see the Omnimeters spec sheets for detailed wiring instructions).   

Similarly, our new EKM-ioStack (beta) has the ability to count the pulse outputs from up to 4 pulse output devices. It has the added benefit of being powered by 12V DC instead of 120V AC like the Omnimeters, which makes it easier and safer to install.

You can read the Omnimeters on their LCD screens, or set them up to be read with your computer or EKM Push3 gateway. The ioStack has no LCD screen so it can only be read remotely. The remote read for the Omnimeters and ioStack is a simple RS-485, 2-wire system which allows the Omnimeter and/or ioStack, or string of Omnimeters and/or ioStacks, to be read fom up to 4,000 feet away. The Omnimeters and/or ioStacks can then be connected to one of our Push3 gateways, which connects to the internet, enabling you to access your water meter data online from anywhere in the world. The Push3 can be connected to a typical internet router, or even cellular modem as long as it has a LAN ethernet port. The Push3 also has the ability to connect to a WiFi network. It is powered by 12 Volts DC just like the ioStack.

If you need to go short range wireless, you can wirelessly bridge the hardwired RS-485 network at any point using our 485Bee wireless mesh.


If you're using a v.4 or v.5 Omnimeter and the EKM Push system to read your water meter(s), then you can use Encompass.io to read your gas meter data. This is our free online platform for visualizing data, generating reports, and billing.



Encompass.io makes use of the the EKM Push data and makes your gas meter data available online in your own secure account. The web application lets you visualize your gas usage in a variety of graphs and it also also allows you to generate reports. These can be used to bill your tenants or simply as a way to monitor your gas usage over time. Encompass is free for all EKM Push users so there is no risk if you want to try it out.



We also have our EKM Dash software that will let you log the meter usage to your computer.  This software does not have any monthly fees and can be used on an unlimited number of meters.  You can set it up to make a monthly report on any day of the month.  The software can automatically generate a report and email it to you, or your tenant/user.  Our software has the ability to respond to events configured by the user.  You could set it up to email you, for instance, when a certain usage amount has been reached.  This is in the Triggers page of the Dash software, under Events.

 

Alternatively, if you don not have an internet connection available, you could have a computer running on site with the Dash software running on it in order to log data locally.  You could connect the Omnimeter Pulse v.4 to this computer via the iSerial (discontinued) or our $25 USB Converter.  You could set the Dash software to email you monthly or daily, etc., reports of your usage.

The image below shows the wired connections that are necessary for remote water metering. In reality these wired connections will be extended over further distances (up to 10,000 feet for the pulse output wires coming from the water meter, up to 4,000 feet for the RS-485 wires going to the EKM Push gateway). Keep in mind that up to 3 water meters can be connected to each v.4 Omnimeter.
